About the authorAlex Carlson is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island where she studied Secondary Education and English. She is a graduate of the class of 2015. She will continue her studies at the University of Rhode Island as a graduate student in the student-defined Masters in Secondary Education program where she plans to visit classrooms, attend classes, and pursue a graduate certificate in digital literacy. She is currently working as the School of Education Secondary Education graduate assistant which eats up a bulk of her time. She is also involved in a research study and is looking forward to soon being a published author! When she has a spare second, she works for LearningWorks for Kids, a company which seeks to inspire learners of all types to learn while they play.
Alex is a lover of teaching, students, making people laugh, the show Lost, any and all things Harry Potter. Above all, she loves her Bernese Mountain Dog, Buddy, who lives with her parents in New Jersey (so she misses him quite terribly all the time). Pictured (top) is Alex with Diane Ravitch in the fall of 2013 at the University of Rhode Island's Honors Colloquium where Alex ran a successful social media campaign about the colloquium, public education, and policy throughout the semester using Facebook, Twitter, and Hootsuite. Pictured (below) is Alex's girlfriend, Tory, whom she loves very much and looks forward to spending their lives growing together. |
